What are the risks for our country
Romania presents a unique risk landscape, focusing on extreme natural phenomena, cyber incidents and legislative changes, says the Allianz Risk Barometer.
According to the ranking, these are the most important risks for 2024:
- Natural disaster (39%): Events such as storms, floods, earthquakes and vegetation fires are the main concern, with a significant increase over the previous year. This emphasises the need for investment in infrastructure and disaster prevention measures.
- Cyber incidents (37%)With a big rise in the rankings, threats such as ransomware attacks and security breaches are now the second biggest risk to businesses. Increasing digitisation brings benefits but also vulnerabilities, requiring advanced security measures.
- Legislative changes (36%): Even if this risk has decreased compared to the previous year, it remains one of the biggest challenges, given the new directives on sustainability and protectionism.
- Macroeconomic developments (20%): inflation, monetary policies and austerity programmes continue to affect the economic environment, keeping this risk similar to 2023.
- Political risk and violence (20%): Political instability and events such as protests and strikes remain constant in business perceptions.
- Climate change (17%): this risk appears for the first time in the ranking, reflecting concerns about the economic and operational impact of global warming.
- Business interruptions and fires/explosions (16% each): Business continuity issues and operational risks remain critical issues, especially in industrial sectors.
