Sustainable procurement is the process by which a company selects suppliers, products and services by analysing not only the initial price, but also the whole life cycle and the environmental and community impacts. The objective is to realise real economic value while respecting social standards and reducing pressure on natural resources.<\/p>\n

Oxford College of Procurement & Supply<\/a> describes this approach as a means of combining financial efficiency with social responsibility and environmental protection. The UNDP and the UN Global Compact reinforce the same idea: procurement must be seen in terms of results for the organisation as well as for society. In Europe, these principles are reflected in the European Union's public procurement directives and in policy initiatives such as the European Green Pact or the CSRD and CSDDD directives, which introduce reporting and traceability requirements for supply chains.<\/p>\n
