EcoVadis has developed an internationally recognised methodology to measure the quality of CSR management systems by analysing a company's policies, actions and results. The assessment reflects current performance and indicates directions for improvement.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"914\">Fundamental principles of EcoVadis evaluation<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"915\" data-end=\"1020\">The CSR rating process is built on seven principles that guarantee objectivity and transparency:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"2047\">\n<li data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1141\">\n<p data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1141\">Evidence Based - only concrete documents and evidence (policies, reports, certifications) are taken into account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1302\">\n<p data-start=\"1144\" data-end=\"1302\">Industry, Location and Size Matter - the assessment takes into account the specifics of the industry, the size of the company and the risks associated with the countries in which it operates.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1303\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<p data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1490\">Diversification of Sources - analyses both internal data and external information from NGOs, trade unions, international bodies or independent databases.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1491\" data-end=\"1608\">\n<p data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1608\">Technology Is a Must - technology ensures confidentiality, traceability and rapid delivery of results.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1771\">\n<p data-start=\"1611\" data-end=\"1771\">Assessment by International Experts - documents are assessed by CSR analysts from around the world, familiar with international best practices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1772\" data-end=\"1893\">\n<p data-start=\"1774\" data-end=\"1893\">Traceability and Transparency - every document and score is archived and can be tracked in detail by the company.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1894\" data-end=\"2047\">\n<p data-start=\"1896\" data-end=\"2047\">Excellence Through Continuous Continuous Improvement - the methodology is subject to continuous quality control and updating based on feedback received.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 data-start=\"2049\" data-end=\"2087\">Areas and criteria covered<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2088\" data-end=\"2167\">The CSR assessment is based on 21 criteria, grouped into four major themes:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2170\" data-end=\"2297\">Environment - energy consumption, GHG emissions, waste management, biodiversity, consumer health and safety, etc.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2300\" data-end=\"2465\">Human and labour rights - working conditions, health and safety, social dialogue, training, prevention of discrimination and forced labour.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2565\">Ethics - anti-corruption, anti-competitive practices, responsible information management.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2568\" data-end=\"2717\">Responsible procurement - evaluation and monitoring of suppliers on social and environmental criteria, contractual clauses, audits and training.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"2719\" data-end=\"2752\">How the analysis is structured<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2753\" data-end=\"2852\">EcoVadis assesses CSR systems on three main levels, each with specific indicators:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2856\" data-end=\"2955\"><strong data-start=\"2856\" data-end=\"2874\">Policies (25%)<\/strong> - objectives, targets, governance and public commitments (e.g. UN Global Compact).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2958\" data-end=\"3095\"><strong data-start=\"2958\" data-end=\"2975\">Shares (40%)<\/strong> - measures implemented, certifications (ISO 14001, SA8000, etc.), coverage in the organisation and in the supply chain.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3098\" data-end=\"3289\"><strong data-start=\"3098\" data-end=\"3117\">Results (35%)<\/strong> - reporting (GRI, SASB, ESRS), performance indicators and external feedback collected through the 360\u00b0 Watch mechanism, which analyses over 100,000 independent sources.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3291\" data-end=\"3507\">Each indicator is scored from 0 to 100 (Insufficient, Partial, Good, Advanced, Outstanding), and the thematic scores are weighted and adjusted for company size and geographic risks.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"3509\" data-end=\"3539\">Benefits for businesses<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3540\" data-end=\"3565\">An EcoVadis score provides credibility with customers, investors and partners and easy access to global value chains. Analysis helps to identify strengths and areas for improvement. Companies can use tools for progress such as the EcoVadis Academy or the Carbon Action Module.
