Funding opportunity for nature protection and biodiversity conservation projects in Europe<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Objective of the Appeal<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The European LIFE 2025 programme supports initiatives aimed at protecting, restoring and enhancing biodiversity, in line with European Union legislation and the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. The main objective is the smart and results-oriented implementation of nature and wildlife conservation measures.<\/p>\n

The call LIFE-2025-SAP-NAT - Standard Projects is a major opportunity for public, private and non-governmental organisations interested in contributing to halting biodiversity loss and restoring natural ecosystems.<\/p>\n

Projects are expected to have a clear, measurable and sustainable impact on nature, in particular on habitats and species in decline.<\/p>\n

Programme structure<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Space for Nature - Habitat Protection and Restoration<\/strong><\/p>\n

Projects proposed in this area should aim to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • restoration or improvement of natural and semi-natural habitats<\/li>\n
  • creating new protected areas or improving the management of existing ones<\/li>\n
  • developing green infrastructure and ecological corridors to support the Trans-European Nature Network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Protecting Species - Ensuring Biodiversity Survival<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Proposed projects should focus on:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • reducing threats to protected species<\/li>\n
    • measures for coexistence between humans and large predators<\/li>\n
    • control invasive species and protect pollinators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Budget <\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Total budget of the Appeal: <\/strong>153,000,000 EUR<\/p>\n

      This budget is earmarked to fund around 30 projects under the LIFE-2025-SAP-NAT-NATURE sub-programme.<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Minimum and maximum grants per project:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Minimum recommended value:<\/strong> 2 000 000 Euro<\/p>\n

      Maximum recommended value:<\/strong> 13 000 000 Euro<\/p>\n

      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Co-financing rate:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Standard:<\/strong> up to 60% of eligible costs<\/p>\n

      Increased:<\/strong> up to 75% for projects exclusively targeting priority habitats and species.<\/p>\n

      To qualify for the increased co-financing rate, projects must demonstrate that they focus exclusively on habitats and species that are prioritised under EU law.<\/p>\n

      Special conditions:<\/strong> beneficiaries must ensure the sustainability of the results at least 20 years after the end of the project.<\/p>\n

      Eligible Applicants<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      The call is open to:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • public or private organisations from EU Member States and LIFE associated countries<\/li>\n
      • transnational consortia or partnerships<\/li>\n
      • NGOs, local authorities, research institutions or private entities interested in nature conservation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Projects must focus exclusively on flora, wild fauna and natural\/semi-natural habitats, in line with the EU Birds, Habitats and Invasive Species Directives.<\/p>\n

        Eligible Activities and Costs<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        It's funded:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • habitat restoration and species protection activities;<\/li>\n
        • measures to reduce pressures on ecosystems;<\/li>\n
        • Information, education and public awareness actions;<\/li>\n
        • creating green and environmentally friendly infrastructure;<\/li>\n
        • land acquisition for conservation under strict conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Eligible costs include expenditure on staff, equipment, specific infrastructure, land, subcontracting and indirect costs.<\/p>\n

          Projects must be submitted through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal, by 23 September 2025, 17:00 CET.<\/p>\n
