{"id":4838,"date":"2025-01-10T15:10:01","date_gmt":"2025-01-10T13:10:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esghub.ro\/?p=4838"},"modified":"2025-01-23T09:33:00","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T07:33:00","slug":"innovation-innovation-fund-batteries-for-electric-vehicles-innovfund-2024-batt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esghub.ro\/en\/fondul-pentru-inovare-baterii-pentru-vehicule-electrice-innovfund-2024-batt\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding: Innovation Fund - Batteries for Electric Vehicles"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Theme of the call:<\/strong> INNOVFUND-2024-BATT-EV-CELLS - Production of cells for electric vehicle batteries<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Objectives<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The objectives of this call are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Supporting projects for the production of battery cells for electric vehicles that demonstrate innovative, sufficiently mature technologies, processes or products with significant potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">providing financial support tailored to the market needs and risk profiles of eligible projects, while attracting additional public and private resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">This theme supports battery cell production projects for electric vehicles, to enhance Europe's industrial capacity and leadership in this net zero emission technology and to ensure that EU\/EEA battery production is ready to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in line with mandatory CO2 emission performance standards for light and heavy duty vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Eligible activities (scope):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Producing cells that can be used in electric vehicle batteries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Electric vehicle batteries are defined in the Battery Regulation as follows:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">'Battery for electric vehicles' means a battery specifically designed to provide electric energy for traction in hybrid or electric vehicles of category L as defined in Regulation (EU) No 168\/2013, weighing more than 25 kg, or a battery specifically designed to provide electric energy for traction in hybrid or electric vehicles of categories M, N or O as defined in Regulation (EU) 2018\/858.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Optionally, the project (in the case of horizontally integrated projects) may also include additional production of primary components such as: cathode precursor material (pCAM), cathode active material (CAM), anode active material (AAM), electrolyte, separator, and recycling of batteries or battery materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Only projects that have not reached financial closure at the date of proposal submission will be funded.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Budget available<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The estimated budget available for this call is <strong>1,000,000,000 EUR<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Eligible participants (eligible countries):<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">To be eligible, applicants (beneficiaries and affiliated entities) must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">be legal entities (public or private organisations);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">be established in one of the eligible countries: any country in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must be registered in the Register of Participants - before submitting their proposal - and will need to be validated by the Central Validation Service (Validation REA). For validation, they will be required to upload documents proving their legal status and origin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Other entities may participate in other roles in the consortium, such as associated partners, subcontractors, third parties providing in-kind contributions, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Eligible activities<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Eligible activities are those referred to in section <strong>Objectives<\/strong> above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The following activities are not considered eligible for funding under this call:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">production of battery applications (e.g. production of electric vehicles);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">activities related to assembling electric vehicle battery cells into modules or packs. Projects must produce <strong>battery cells<\/strong>;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">primary component production or recycling activities exceeding 100% of the project's battery cell production capacity;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">mining activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Geographical location <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Projects must be located in EU Member States or EEA countries (Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Project duration<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Projects must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">achieve financial closure within <strong>four years<\/strong> from the signature of the grant agreement (maximum duration for financial closure);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">operate at least <strong>three years<\/strong> after commissioning (minimum GHG avoidance monitoring period).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Project duration (grant duration) normally varies between <strong>3 and 15 years<\/strong>from grant signature to final payment. Projects of longer duration may be accepted in well justified cases. Extensions are possible, if duly justified and justified in an amendment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Project budget<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The project budgets (amount of grant requested) must be calculated on the basis of the relevant costs, using the relevant cost calculator provided and respecting the conditions in the Guide on Relevant Cost Methodology.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Maximum grant amount<\/strong> must not exceed <strong>60% of relevant costs<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Only projects with relevant costs greater than zero are eligible.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Eligible expenditure: capital expenditure over <strong>2.500.000 EUR<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">'Capital expenditure' means all project costs (as defined in the relevant Cost Methodology Guide) for the development or construction of the project, which are incurred or to be incurred before the project is commissioned and which relate exclusively to the following categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">construction costs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">on-site infrastructure costs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">development costs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">intangible assets;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">reservations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Capital expenditure includes both eligible and ineligible costs, as defined in the relevant Cost Methodology Guide.
